William Frederick Cody 1846-1917 . American showman known
as ‘ Buffalo Bill ‘ . An army scout & pony express rider, he earned his name after killing nearly 5000 buffalo in 18 months in
pursuance of a contract to supply the workers on the Kansas Pacific Railway with meat .He served as a scout in the Sioux wars but from 1883 toured with his Wild West Show .A postally used postcard size 5.5 x 3 inches . Typed & headed as follows " Augusta GA , June 20' 07 . My Dear Webb , Old friend of the plains. I am leaving for Charleston now and wont be your way till the end of August . If you still want to buy into the " Rockies " project I will collect a deposit then . Meantime I guess things are going well with you . My regards to Annie and the kids . Cody " The front of the card has a picture of President McKinley & American eagle & is addressed to ‘ Walter T.Webb , Routlridge Junction ,Williamstown , Michigan & is stamped ‘ Augusta & Atlanta , June 27th 1907 & another stamp ‘ Charleston S.C. June 28th 1pm 1907 . Also included with this item is A Williamston State Bank headed cheque signed by the recipient, Walter Webb for $125 signed & dated August 26th 1907.
